The documentary OUT OF THE SHADOWS was produced by local affiliate KNBC as an expose on the (then shocking) lives of gays, lesbians, and transgender people living in Los Angeles in 1970. At times cringe-worthy (note the casual use of the word "scum"), OUT OF THE SHADOWS is nevertheless a fascinating example of an early television documentary on queer life.
