3rd doctor story can be pretty good after all so long as it's not a UNIT story...here an overt pro-UN/EU/globalization/sneaky imperialism, anti-isolationism allegory. Jo got into a rather cheesy romance soap drama again. The whole plot point about the king doesn't bother to check the tunnel but rather gives in quickly, twice(!), on punishing the doctor really only serves to show the masculine, ever-boring "battle" spectacle (which I guess Pertwee rather enjoyed) and then conveniently reveal the villain. alpha centauri (genderqueer green ***** wrapped with condom) is such ***** comic relief.
